In shocking news, the owners of Logan Square’s Fat Rice announced the restaurant would close to make way for Super Fat Rice Mart, a general store featuring meal kits. Chef Abe Conlon says he converted to veganism earlier in 2020, and he’s bringing the philosophy to his $99 meal kits, which he says should feed two adults for about two days. The kits will rotate, but customers can expect a 100-percent meat-free experience with a combo of curries, rice, snacks, black-sesame oatmeal for breakfast, and more. Conlon says the organic produce contributes to the higher cost of the kit, but they don’t want to compromise quality. The kits are available for preorder.
