Where to Brunch on New Year's Day 2016 in Chicago
1. Johnny's Grill
Sop up the remnants of NYE with a myriad of hangover remedies from chef Sarah Jordan. Wake up with an Irish breakfast, some fish n’ chips or a booze-busting double cheeseburger. And if easing into 2016 requires something stronger, Flower Shop Bar’s cocktail menu features Bloody Marys and mimosas.
2. La Sirena Clandestina
Join the acclaimed Fulton Market spot for a Brazilian brunch from noon to 6 p.m. Enjoy live music, cocktails and Latin fare like feijoada, Brazilian-style fried chicken and casquinha de siri (baked crab dish). 3. Café Ba-Ba-Reeba!
Roll out of bed and into Café Ba-Ba-Reeba for brunch. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Spanish restaurant will host its 11th annual pajama brunch. Ring in the New Year with a host of sweet and savory tapas and a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar. Guests who come dressed in pajamas will receive a Ba-Ba-Reeba gift certificate equal to the price of their meal, for a future visit.
4. Jake Melnick's Corner Tap
Celebrate the New Year with an ultimate hangover brunch, complete with a fully-loaded Bloody Mary bar, football on more than 25 flat screen TVs and indulgent dishes. $10 covers the first Bloody Mary and grants access to the bar until 4:00 p.m., and each Bloody Mary after is just $5. Guests can nosh on staples such as steak & eggs, chicken & waffles and the 4 a.m. Burger, and those who arrive in pajamas will receive 10% off their entire bill.
5. The Publican
In celebration of the New Year, one of the city’s best brunch spots will offer its a la carte menu from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feast on opulent raw seafood options as well as classics such as the Publican bacon and red wine-poached eggs. And of course, keep the party going with Bloody Marys and Publican “mimosas” made with beer.
6. The Dawson
The Dawson will be open for brunch from noon to 4 p.m. and offer its first ever Bloody Mary bar. The recently revamped menu features dishes such as corn flake-crusted French toast, pork mac & cheese, vegetable hash and spiced pumpkin coffee cake.
The West Loop hotspot is the perfect place to nurse a hangover with dishes like baked egg shakshuka, wood-oven-baked French toast with fresh cheese and fruit compote, and breakfast paella with eggs, shrimp, morcilla sausage and artichokes. Brunch will be available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
8. GT Fish and Oyster
Giuseppe Tentori’s lauded seafood restaurant will be serving its regular brunch menu on New Year’s Day. Favorites include oyster po’ boy sliders, chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, crab benedict and more. Diners can also spice things up with a customizable Bloody Mary, made with Stu’s Bloody Mary mix and choice of Ketel One vodka or Old Forester bourbon.
9. Sink | Swim
Drop into Sink | Swim for its Sunday brunch menu on New Years Day. Reinvigorate yourself with some oysters or comforting dishes that include fried oyster benedict, sourdough French toast, smoked trout BLT, and a brandade Scotch egg.

10. Shaw's Crab House
Go big on New Year’s Day with a grand buffet featuring classic breakfast fare plus Shaw’s specialties. Guests can make their own omelets and waffles with more than a dozen ingredients or enjoy a surf and turf station, cold seafood bar and salads galore. Chop Shop will toast to the New Year with $20 bottomless mimosas and a $10 Butcher’s Bloody Mary with sausage and peppers garnish. Complementing the drinks will be a menu of hangover helpers such as lobster benedict over polenta, bacon pancakes and the CS Skillet (eggs, cheese, sausage, potatoes with gravy).

Kick off the New Year with brunch at Bread & Wine. The menu features dishes like chicken & pancakes, biscuits & gravy, and a breakfast banh mi with pork belly, ham, pate, kimchi, fried eggs and hash browns.

The new Andersonville BBQ spot will be offering a New Year’s Day brunch special starting a 11 a.m. Choose any item from the menu—items include a breakfast burrito, "Three Li’l Pigs" sandwich, corned short rib hash & eggs, and more—and a mimosa or Bloody Mary for $16.

15. Dimo's Pizza
Dimo’s will debut its first-ever pizza brunch on New Year’s Day. Starting at 9 a.m., the restaurant will offer a new menu featuring brunch-themed pizzas, pizza dough monkey bread and cocktails. The new creations include a Salmon Lox pie and the Pizza Bloody, a tomato sauce Bloody Mary with a slice of cheese pizza on top.
