Chicago's restaurants and bars are still getting used to happy hour, but more and more of them are embracing them, giving patrons discounts during off-peak hours. It's a complicated history as lawmakers legalized happy hour in Illinois two years ago after lifting the state-wide ban in 2015.
There are some restrictions to the discounts, which are covered here. The list has been updated, but there might be some error. Feel free to email chicago@eater.com for corrections or additions. Again, bar owners who want to be listed should feel free to reach out, especially in areas that aren't well represented. Happy drinking!
Note: State law only allows drinks specials for a maximum of 15 hours per week, and for a maximum of four hours a day. Some specials listed here may be straddling that line. Oh, competition!
