The pandemic changed a lot for Chicago’s bars and restaurants, and one of them was the silencing of bar food specials. Oysters costs have actually plummeted during the pandemic due to a lack of demand.
Despite the distance from both coast, in recent years oyster specials have become increasingly popular in Chicago. But now that restrictions are loosened, the raw bar is once again a popular place. And though vendor prices have dipped, other restaurant expenses have increased — including the price of labor — which means oyster specials aren’t as abundant as they once were.
Below, find an updated list of Chicago restaurants that offer $1 or $2 oysters. Most are happy hour specials, which tends to mean discounts on drinks, too. A number of previous oyster standbys haven’t (yet) brought back their bivalve deals after reopening, but new options may crop up in the coming months.
