An egg sandwich can provide late risers with a golden reason to wake up early. The perfect ratio of runny egg, between bread, and supplemented with melted cheese provides a wonderful foundation for the rest of the day. Or, if it’s a weekend, it’s a no-frills a.m. choice for those who went to bed in the a.m.

The egg sandwiches listed below are more than up to the task, with options for breakfast traditionalists and outside-the-box eaters. Restaurants are taking a range of approaches for dine-in service, delivery, and carryout, so patrons would be wise to check in on social media or by phone before making plans.

A number of Chicago restaurants have resumed dine-in service. The level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns. For updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the city of Chicago’s COVID-19 dashboard. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
