Lettuce Entertain You to open a restaurant in Disney World
Lettuce Entertain You is going to Disney World. Chicago’s largest restaurant group plans to open a Beatrix, the mini-chain of casual all-day restaurants, inside Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, according to a news release and a post on the Disney Parks blog. Expect a full-service restaurant, a coffee bar and lounge, grab-and-go items, a bakery, and beer and wine. Reps have yet to provide an opening timeframe, so stay tuned for that. Other Chicago restaurant operators — Gibsons Restaurant Group and chef Art Smith — have previously opened Disney World locations too.
Ariana Grande’s party at Siena Tavern highlights Lollapalooza 2019 sightings
Freshly after headlining Lollapalooza’s Sunday lineup, pop megastar Ariana Grande ate and partied at Siena Tavern in River North. The “Break Up With Your Girlfriend” singer threw a surprise birthday party for one of her bodyguards at Fabiano Viviani and DineAmic Group’s popular Italian restaurant, which 17 people attended, according to a rep and Entertainment Tonight. Vic Mensa at Blind Dragon Chicago is another celebrity sighting during this year’s festival, a rep writes, and rock royalty Carlos Santana ate at Rosebud on Rush on Saturday, although that was unrelated to Lolla.
Chicago Gourmet releases lineup and tickets for popular annual burger competition
The lineup for this year’s Hamburger Hop, the very popular annual burger competition with many big-name chefs that kicks off Chicago Gourmet, is out. Happening September 27 on the Harris Theater Rooftop in Millennium Park, this year’s competitors include chefs from Mordecai, Pub Royale, Scofflaw, the Swill Inn, and many more, according to a news release and the Tribune. Tickets cost $125 and are available here.
Car crashes into a Northwest Side diner this morning
And finally, a car crashed into a Northwest Side location of diner chain Golden Nugget this morning, the Sun-Times reports. One person was injured in the crash, which happened at around 7:30 a.m. at 3001 N. Central Avenue in Belmont Cragin, according to WGN. No one has yet answered the phone at the restaurant so its unknown if the management was able to reopen the restaurant.
