Michelin Guide sets dates for Chicago Bib Gourmand and Stars
It’s the time of year again, as officials from the Michelin Guide have announced the dates for the upcoming Bib Gourmand and star announcements. Chicago will kick off the guide’s American news as Michelin will announce the restaurants on its Bib Gourmand list (for affordable restaurants offering quality) on September 19. Chicago’s Michelin stars will be announced on September 26.
U.S. Pizza Museum to end its South Loop run in October
After taking Chicago by storm in August 2018, the U.S. Pizza Museum will close on October 13, ending its run inside the Roosevelt Collection in the South Loop. There’s no word on where the museum may end up next, though it will have a presence at the Chicago Pizza Summit on October 6 at the Theater on the Lake. The final batch of tickets are on sale for the museum at the link. Founder Kendall Bruns said his team’s working on a bunch of new programming for the final two months. For example, they’ll unveil a “Pizza in New Haven” exhibit on Saturday. “Being at the Roosevelt Collection has absolutely been the greatest experience yet and I’m confident that it will lead to even more exciting things in the future,” Bruns said.
Piece to host New Haven Pizza documentary
Speaking of New Haven, Piece Pizza — Chicago’s home for that Connecticut-style pizza — is hosting a Monday screening of Pizza, A Love Story, a documentary celebrating the pizzerias which have helped make New Haven pies among America’s most cherished. Tickets cost $40 and include a buffet and two drink tickets. There will also be a question/answer session with the filmmakers. The U.S. Pizza Museum is hosting its own screening on Saturday.
Sunday Dinner Club branches out to wine
The once-underground supper club that helped launch Honey Butter Fried Chicken in Avondale is getting into wine. Sunday Dinner Club, from chefs Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp, have started a wine club with wine distributor Vinejoy. Customers can choose two options (one bottle each of six wines or two bottles each of six wines). See more details at the link.
Uptown’s Brass Heart to celebrate a year
Brass Heart is celebrating its first year in Uptown by raising money for the Chicago Animal Care and Control Shelter. They’re donating 5 percent from meals through Saturday to the city organization.Reservations are available at the link.
