James Beard Award winners Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark’s highly-anticipated new restaurant, Wherewithall, will open in Avondale next week. The all-day spot at 3472 N. Elston Avenue is slated to open July 16, representatives announced today in Michelin-starred sister restaurant Parachute’s email newsletter. Reservations are now available here.
Kim, who appeared on Top Chef, and Clark first teased plans for Wherewithall in September 2018. They plan to serve breakfast pastries, an a la carte lunch, and a rotating four-course prix fixe dinner ($65) featuring “contemporary American” dishes that pay tribute to Chicago’s cultural diversity. The space includes a courtyard, private dining room, and a bar with snacks meant to compliment wine. The couple said they hope to cultivate the same neighborhood vibe that permeates Korean-American hotspot Parachute, and both casual and formal dress are welcome.
The husband and wife team first opened the highly anticipated Parachute in 2014 and quickly garnered critical acclaim. It has since won numerous local and national awards. Kim and Clark took home the Best Chef: Great Lakes award at the 2019 Beards and welcomed their third child in May.
