Revolution Brewing starts serving a Humboldt Park alligator beer

Chicagoans obsessed with the viral news about the alligator in Humboldt Park’s lagoon can drink beer celebrating it starting today. Revolution Brewing’s Humboldt Gator, a pineapple coconut wit that costs $6, goes on tap at the essential brewery’s Logan Square brewpub and Avondale taproom today, Block Club first reported. “[The beer has] a definite piña colada flavor going on, which we thought was perfect for both Humboldt Park and the tropical chaos of a lagoon gator,” Revolution’s rep writes. $1 from the sale of each will go to the non-profit youth and community program service provider West Town Bikes.

Another doughnut festival is coming to Chicago this fall

Taste of Donuts, a new doughnut festival from organizers the Underground Donut Tour, is coming to town this fall. Billed as the “premiere donut event for Midwest donut enthusiasts,” will have many vendors from both Chicago and neighboring states at Morgan’s on Fulton on November 2 and the first wave of $25 tickets go on sale tomorrow via its website. Vendors announced so far include Roeser’s Bakery, Sweetwater’s Donut Mill, the forthcoming Donut Slut, and more.

A longtime, acclaimed local chef launches a summer menu at an arcade bar

Longtime local chef Dirk Flanigan is back working in Chicago — at an arcade bar. The chef, known for his work at the Gage, Ocean Cut, and more, launched a new menu this summer at Replay Andersonville that includes vindaloo curried baby back ribs, house-made wild boar sausage with pickled-fennel salad, and more.

Frozen drinks with selfies on them will be available at Lollapalooza

And finally, selfie-obsessed Lollapalooza attendees can sip frozen drinks with their faces on them at this year’s festival that kicks off tomorrow. The “Frozie,” which vendor Cupcake Vineyards bill as the first-ever frozen selfie drink, comes in either a rose flavor or something named the “Chi-Town Chiller Frozie.”
