One of DineAmic Hospitality’s hallmarks is that the group tries to appeal to many, and they’re once again showcasing that philosophy with Bandit, their West Loop bar and restaurant that opens on Monday. Tater tots will come topped with caviar. There’s cheap beer and fancy cocktails. DineAmic isn’t discriminating with their latest, hoping for another hit on Randolph Restaurant Row.
While there are fresh brownies made in the kitchen where celebrity chef Graham Elliot once roamed, the desserts also have a playful twist. Servers will bring out a mini cooler and customers can pick up a Good Humor ice cream novelty. Bandit wants customers to feel like they’re a kid waiting for the ice cream truck. There’s a decor full of pop culture including a pair of posters with Arnold Schwarzenegger riding a motorcycle from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
DineAmic’s Lucas Stoioff and David Rekhson designed the restaurant, and Stoioff said one of their company’s strengths is understanding a space’s energy. They demolished the bar used when the space was Gideon Sweet and built a smaller U-shaped bar. It gives the room a different feel. Eventually, they’re going to build a pergola outside for the courtyard. They want that space used even during colder months.
Take a look around. Bandit opens on Monday at 841 W. Randolph Street.
