Chicagoans will be able to try some of New York City’s popular edible cookie dough all summer long. Cookie DŌ, an Instagram-famous shop with locations in Greenwich Village and the New York Mets’ home Citi Field, will open a summer popup at Navy Pier this Memorial Day weekend.
The Chicago location, a standalone kiosk near the base of Navy Pier’s ferris wheel, will serve an abbreviated menu of the shop’s most popular items, according to a news release. Expect scoops of different flavors of cookie dough, cookie dough ice cream, cookie sandwiches, and “Ice Cream SanDŌs.” It will open for business on Friday at arguably Chicago’s greatest tourist attraction and run through Labor Day.
Raw cookie dough shops have become one of the country’s trendiest food operations. Cookie DŌ is one of the trendiest of all, as its brick and mortar location had two-hour waits when it first opened in 2017. It previously popped up at Chicago barbecue and country music festival Windy City Smokeout, but that was only for a weekend.
Last summer saw Chicago’s first raw cookie dough bar, Scooped Cookie Dough Bar, debut to great fanfare inside Water Tower Place on the Mag Mile. Tourists and families at Navy Pier will get to try an acclaimed New York spot this weekend through early September.
