The Old Plank, a new sports bar with Tex-Mex food, is now open in Logan Square in the former Parts & Labor space. The bar, from Esam Hani — he owns six spots on the same block including Cafe Con Leche, Saba, and the Harding Tavern — opened on Monday without fanfare at 2700 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Hani’s team at One of a Kind Hospitality gutted the space — with the exception of the bar — and redecorated.
The vibe is sports bar with plenty of televisions. Some nights will feature DJs. There’s an opening party tonight that’s open to the general public at 7 p.m. Customers will find tacos, tortas, brisket sandwiches, chicken wings, queso, and churros on the menu. Weekend brunch service starts immediately and will feature breakfast tacos, but won’t only be available on weekend mornings. Breakfast tacos (like green chorizo with eggs and fried avocado) will also be served every day and even late night.
The cocktails focus on agave and whiskey. Wine is among the elixirs available on the bar’s 15 taps. The beer list mostly features easy-drinking ales. There’s also spiked slushies.
Parts & Labor closed in late 2017 after four years and featured a popular patio. Old Plank won’t have its outdoor space immediately open. Expect a patio this summer.
