The deep-dish pros at Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria have announced plans to open a new full-service restaurant on the north side of the Wrigley Building on the Magnificent Mile this fall. The 410 N. Michigan Avenue location will seat 200 in 10,000 square feet of space, according to Crain’s Chicago, and management plans to hire more than 150 employees. Serving one of Chicago’s most iconic dishes, the Northbrook-based chain currently runs 53 Chicagoland pizzerias, and three in Arizona.

Terrazzo floors and relics from the Wrigley Building’s defunct below-ground cafeteria will set the location apart from other Lou Malnati’s sites. Owner Marc Malnati hopes the preserved flooring, brick, and stone will interest diners and create an old-world ambiance. Customers will be able to dine-in, carryout, and order delivery and catering, or make use of a private dining room that seats between 30 and 40 people.

The historic structure is home to several retailers, including Peet’s Coffee, Walgreens, and Ghirardelli. Chicago billionaire and Morningstar founder Joe Mansueto purchased the Wrigley Building for $255 million in June 2018, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Stay tuned for more details as the project progresses.
