Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams’ Randolph Row location is finally open today, two years after the West Loop location was first reported. The new “scoop shop” is a two-story building at 908 W. Randolph Street, a change from the Sangamon Street address previously reported, with plenty of seating on both levels. An opening day menu is posted in True West Loop and lists limited flavors like Savannah buttermint, sweet cream biscuits and peach jam, and chocolate bunny. This location will offer the creamy treats available at other Jeni’s, but isn’t introducing any specialized flavors exclusive to the West Loop.
This is the sixth Chicago parlor from the Ohio-based chain by James Beard Award baking & desserts winner Jeni Britton Baue. Chicagoans can also try its chilly offerings in Wicker Park, Lakeview, Old Town, Wrigleyville, and Lincoln Park. Known for gourmet combinations like cold brew with coconut cream, goat cheese with red cherries, and salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks, Jeni’s also offers dairy-free flavors and hot fudge and caramel sauces.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, 908 W. Randolph Street, (708) 540-6124, open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
