New restaurants are always popping up all over the city, but which neighborhoods shine the brightest? We asked Chicago’s dining experts to tell us their favorite neighborhoods of the year.
Michael Nagrant, michaelnagrant.com: West Loop
Titus Ruscitti, ChiBBQKing: It’s not a single neighborhood, but the strip of Armitage from California all the way west to Grand is the most interesting in the city.
Ji Suk Yi, WGN Radio, Sun-Times: Avondale/Logan Square
Morgan Olsen, Time Out Chicago: West Town continues to flourish with fan-favorite newcomers like Jeong, Vajra, All Together Now, and Porto.
Chandra Ram, Plate: The north side of Logan Square up to and including Avondale is the soul of Chicago restaurants.
Ariel Cheung, Plate, Chicago, Time Out Chicago, Block Club: The West Loop is the easy answer, but Lincoln Park and Hyde Park both had some fantastic additions with real staying power — Grand Trunk Road, Galit, Virtue, and Ascione Bistro.
