One of Chicago’s favorite deep-dish purveyors launches a new location in an iconic 95-year-old building next week. Lou Malnati’s is slated to open its new restaurant inside the Wrigley Building at 410 N. Michigan Avenue on Tuesday. It’s an ideal location to attract hungry visitors who need to refuel after a day of shopping and sightseeing on the Mag Mile, and may draw some locals who want to play tourist-for-a-day in their own city.

At 10,000 square-feet, the restaurant includes a full bar, around 200 seats for diners, and a private dining room that seats 30-40. During renovations, workers uncovered intact terrazzo floors along with old stone and brick. When the location was first announced in April, owner Marc Malnati said he hopes to create an old-world atmosphere in the space that will also offer carry-out, catering, and delivery. Management plans to start lunch service within two weeks of opening.

Founded in 1971, Lou Malnati’s operates a whopping 56 Chicago-area locations, plus three in Arizona and another in Wisconsin. For tourists hoping to eat and drink their way through downtown Chicago, this latest Lou’s location is another opportunity to pick up a half-baked or frozen pizza to devour at home.
