After hosting a New Year’s Eve party and friends and family services over the weekend in Albany Park, Twisted Hippo has announced that the new brewpub will begin pouring beer to the general public on Thursday. The space at 2925 W. Montrose Avenue has been dormant since December 2016 when the Finch Kitchen closed. Before Finch Kitchen, the space housed BreakRoom Brewery. BreakRoom lasted from March 2015 to May 2016.
Owners Karl and Marilee Rutherford have transformed the space, adding brighter colors and games like Killer Queen. Management is still working on the food menu and they’re waiting before releasing details. Expect bar food like fresh pretzels and chicken wings.
The taps will feature 13 beers. Check out the brewery’s lineup via Untappd. Originally known as Rude Hippo, Twisted Hippo has evolved since they started making beers in 2014. After taking over the Albany Park space in February 2018, when Marilee Rutherford said “we know about the c-word (cursed),” she and Karl Rutherford hoped to open over the summer. That caused quite a bit of anticipation from thirsty locals. They only have a few more days to quench their curiosity. Check back later this week for more coverage.
