A ‘Goose Island’ is coming this season to Sox Park

Goose Island will have its own seating section this season in right field at Sox Park in Bridgeport — with “running water fixtures along all four sides” to make it an “island,” a new Goose Island bar, and “a 10-foot Goose Island tap handle overlooking the ballpark,” the White Sox announced this morning. The 326-seat field-level section, officially named “The Goose Island,” will also include a swanky area in the first few rows with in-seat service, leather seats, and more. Goose Island will also have many marketing promotions with the Sox this year, as well as naming rights to the Craft Kave bar — now named the Goose Island Craft Kave — under the right field bleachers next to the visitors’ bullpen.

The attorney for the Italian American Hall of Fame, the now-closed museum in Little Italy where a Joe DiMaggio statue previously stood for decades outside, says the museum is in negotiations to reopen it in the near northwest suburb with a DiMaggio-themed restaurant next door, the Sun-Times reports.

A UK coffee chain acquires an Edgewater spot for its fourth Chicago location

UK coffee chain Department of Coffee and Social Affairs continues its Chicago expansion, as it has taken over ownership of the four-year-old Edgewater spot Chicago Grind, according to Edgeville Buzz. This spot is the fourth location for the chain in the US — all in Chicago — as it joins shops on the Lincoln Park/Lakeview border, on LaSalle Street in the Loop, and in Presidential Towers in the West Loop.
