— It turns out that suburban Chicago restaurants are no longer eligible for Michelin stars because they’re now outside the guide’s boundaries so inspectors don’t go there anymore, Chicago magazine first reported and the Tribune expanded on. Michelin’s current Chicago boundaries are north to Andersonville, Edgewater and Uptown, west to Humboldt Park and Logan Square/Pilsen & Bridgeport, and south to Hyde Park.

Howells & Hood, the large and popular beer bar and restaurant at the base of the Tribune Tower, will close for good after its last service on Sunday. The impending shutter was announced more than a year ago after new ownership bought the downtown landmark and negotiated a lease termination for the bar. The exact shutter date wasn’t announced until management shared it earlier this week.

— The parade of 90s pop-culture pop-up bars in Chicago shows no signs of slowing down, as “Beverly Hills 90210”-inspired one was announced this week. “Peach Pit After Dark,” based on the fictional spot where the Walshes, Dylan McKay and rest of the crew used to hang out on the show, opened Wednesday inside River North’s Ironside Bar & Galley, according to a news release and many reports, and will last for “a few months.” There’s even a “selfie station” with cardboard cutouts. — The Tribune has word on a couple chef shuffles: Jared Wentworth will exit Matthias Merges’ acclaimed Wrigleyville spot Mordecai this weekend, and former Vera chef/owner Mark Mendez is now executive chef of City Winery.

— Acclaimed Chinatown spot Qing Xiang Yuang Dumplings will close for renovations from October 1-10, ownership announced in an email blast. There’s no word yet about what changes the renovations will bring.

— An employee at Logan Square Middle Eastern restaurant and nightlife spot Masada was stabbed early Thursday morning and was in serious condition after being in a fight inside the restaurant, Block Club reports.

— And finally, 90 Miles Cuban Cafe’s Logan Square location has been closed since last weekend as it turns into a Cafe Bustelo Cucina pop-up beginning today. The Latin coffee-themed popup will last through Sunday and include a cooking demo with Next chef Jenner Tomaska on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., a news release announces. 90 Miles will reopen on October 2, according to its website.
