It’s been more than two years since the owners of the Victor Bar opened their Parisian-style cocktail bar in North Center and now the Fehr brothers (Graeme, John, and Karl) are preparing to open a second bar. Love Street should open by the end of the year at 1325 W. Wrightwood Avenue in Lincoln Park. The space, formerly Maeve tavern, had been around for decades.
Don’t be confused by Love Street’s hippy logo — there will be more than tie-dye going on inside. The Fehrs have learned much since opening Victor Bar, where they started with drinks from a consultant. The experience accrued at North Center means they won’t need help crafting the drinks at Love Street. They’ll offer drinks unique to the Lincoln Park space, tailoring the bar to the neighborhood and catering to locals and nearby DePaul University. John Fehr said they’ll offer a mix of classic and refined classic drinks.
“It’s something that we’ve been thinking about for a while, and we finally found the spot,” John Fehr said. “We can’t wait.”
Expect a dimly lit neighborhood bar similar to Victor with two bartender stations. Victor Bar is a popular spot for dates, so expect to see some love connections at Love Street. Fehr expects demographics to be a little different with more foot traffic along the tree-lined Lincoln Park streets compared to North Center. They’ll likely be open earlier to capture passersby as customers.
It’s an exciting time for the neighborhood. Last week, news broke that Avli Taverna would open later this month right across the street from where Love Street will sit. The Fehrs will share more info in the coming months.
