The food offerings at Midway International Airport have drawn much criticism since old favorites like McDonald’s, Potbelly Sandwich Works, and Harry Caray’s Tavern were jettisoned in favor of new vendors as the airport made plans for a new food court. That new food court officially debuted today at Concourse A with new seating in a 6,300-square-foot space. New offerings include sushi from Arami, the West Town Japanese restaurant; burgers from Billy Goat Tavern; and Woodgrain Neapolitan Pizzeria. There’s also a new and larger airport location for Reilly’s Daughter, the suburban Oak Lawn pub.
Midway unveiled a host of improvements in May 2017 to mixed reviews. In June, the airport announced more planned improvements including a Big & Little’s location. Big Shoulders Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagels will join the new food court by the end of the year, reported Crain’s. Harry Caray’s Tavern, named for the Chicago baseball broadcaster, will be back sometime in 2019. Construction on a Hubbard Inn at Concourse B will start this year. Hubbard Inn is the River North club/restaurant from restaurateur Carmen Rossi.

Crain’s also mentioned a batch of upcoming new vendors: Gene’s Bistro by Gene & Georgetti, Goddess & the Grocer, Freshii, R.J. Grunt’s, and Epic Burger. Midway is investing $75 million into new food vendors. It’s part of the city’s $323 million project to modernize the airport.
