Residents came to know Dunlay’s on the Square for 13 years as a dependable spot to gather right near the Logan Square monument. Dunlay’s closed in March to make way for new ownership, a group which feels the neighborhood needed a breath of fresh air. Merchant Chicago opens on Saturday at 3137 W. Logan Boulevard with a vibrant menu of unique items (including fried rice arancini) and the new owners hope they’ve created a new neighborhood mainstay.

Management is comprised of young and savvy restaurant industry veterans who have worked at some of the most popular restaurants in Chicago. They want a relaxed vibe that melds with the community. If customers want to watch sports, they can watch sports. If singles want a place to mingle, Merchant wants to be that place.

Take a tour of the new space below. Merchant opens at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
