The owners of Jam Restaurant, the home of one of the city’s best brunches, will bring a few of their Michelin Bib Gourmand-worthy dishes to Uptown on Friday when they open 3 Squares Diner. The all-day restaurant is perched on the ground floor of Lawrence House, a rehabbed 344-unit apartment building at 1020 W. Lawrence Avenue. Unlike Jam — which recently moved in Logan Square and is only open for breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch — 3 Squares will allow Jam executive chef Ian Voakes to try his hand at dinner. Breakfast will be available all day.

The interiors are inspired by a ‘20s aesthetic, according to a news release. It’s quite a change for the Lawrence House, which also includes a ground-floor cocktail bar, Larry’s, and Heritage Outpost coffee. The building was once a hotel, noted Block Club, which first reported the opening date. The publication mentioned how the building was home to many low-income residents before it was sold in 2013.
Jam is a perennial Micheline Bib Gourmand selection. A menu wasn’t immediately available, though Block Club teased biscuits and gravy with coconut milk, lamb bacon, and a Vadouvan-poached egg. Keep it here for more coverage later this week.
