An Edgewater Neighborhood Favorite Restaurant Shutters on Saturday

Revival Social Club shutters on Saturday in Edgewater

— Eaters on the far North Side will lose one of Eater Chicago’s recommended restaurants in Edgewater this weekend. Revival Social Club, the all-day restaurant that opened in November 2014 in the former M. Henrietta space at 1133 W. Granville Avenue, will close for good after service on Saturday. A Facebook post reveals that “a new restaurant concept under new ownership” is coming to the space, but who exactly that is when it’ll open is currently unknown. Until then, Revival is offering daily half-off specials until closing up on Saturday night.

— D.C.-imported Philly-style sandwich specialists Taylor Gourmet will open its West Loop/Fulton Market location on Friday at 177 N. Morgan Street, the Tribune reports. The first 50 customers on Friday and Saturday will get a variety of freebies, including sandwiches, burgers, T-shirts, tote bags, and “cracked spuds.” It’s Taylor Gourmet’s second Chicago location after the chain’s Loop spot opened in January.

Wow Bao will close its Loop location at 175 W. Jackson Boulevard on June 29 and move it to 200 N. Michigan Avenue, according to a news release. When it reopens in early July it’ll be a self-service tech-enabled restaurant, similar to the one that opened at 1 W. Division Street in December.

— South Side stalwart Uncle J’s BBQ, one of Chicago’s essential barbecue restaurants, suffered a “small fire” on Monday and will be closed for “about a week,” according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Stefani Prime, the Stefani family’s newest stalwart in suburban Lincolnwood, started weekday lunch service this week. Check out the menu on its website.

Farmer’s Fridge, the line of innovative vending machines which serve real food, now serve a line of sandwiches on bread by James Beard Award nominee Greg Wade of Publican Quality Bread. Also look for new vending machines in select Walgreens around the city.

— And finally, after Old Irving Brewing created a beer that’s a play on Miller High Life named Biller Low Life, the brewery received a note and a package from MillerCoors — but it wasn’t a cease and desist. Instead, the friendly note, which accompanied a couple 12-packs of High Life, said “Thanks for playing nice, beer friends. Cheers to living the high life & cheers to you!” Nicely played.

Thank you MillerCoors for the gift and for playing along with our Biller Low Life beer! Class act. #notaceaseanddesist #beerfriends
