No, they’re not opening an arcade bar, but the owners of Headquarters Beercade are brewing up something new in Wicker Park inside the Taus Authentic Space at 1846 W. Division Street. They’re opening a hybrid restaurant, bar, and coffee shop called Machine: engineered dining and drink. It should open sometime this fall, according to a spokesperson.
Headquarters debuted in 2012 in Lakeview, and owners Brian Galati and Chireal Jordan have since opened locations in River North and Nashville. They’ve stuffed the space with nostalgic arcade video game cabinets from the ‘80s and ‘90s while serving pub food, craft beer, and playful cocktails. The Lakeview location was taken over by Replay’s ownership, although Headquarters owners says they’re still planning to reopen in the neighborhood sometime this winter, according to its website.
The name for the new project comes form Jordan and Galati’s company, Machine Hospitality Group. They’ve held onto the idea for the Machine for a decade, according to a spokesperson. It will feature unique cocktails, a “thoughtfully curated” food menu, and coffee. They claim the space will be something that Chicago has never seen. The design inside the River North space was unlike any arcade bars in Chicago when it opened in 2014.
Taus closed in September after two and a half years along Division Street. Machine will release more details in the coming months. Though it’s not an arcade bar, it’s worth nothing that the location is less than a half a mile from rival Emporium Arcade Park’s Wicker Park location. Stay tuned for more details.
