Restaurateurs David Morton and Michael Kornick conquered hamburgers with DMK Burger Bar, and now they’re focusing on encased meats. The duo behind DMK Restaurants will unveil Goldie’s Hot Dogs on Sunday at Navy Pier. The walk-up counter will serve traditional Chicago-style dogs, a Taylor Street-style Italian sausage with giardiniera, a Wisconsin-style brat with brown mustard and sauerkraut, and a Maxwell Street Polish with grilled onions and mustard.
The walk-up window is meant for Navy Pier visitors who need a quick bite while strolling the tourist attraction. The sausages are Vienna Beef and they’ll be open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, but close at 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.
DMK, which in January opened Fort Willow along Elston Avenue in between Lincoln Park and Bucktown, last year touted a nationwide expansion of its DMK Burger Bar. Some of Goldie’s sausages actually debuted as specials at DMK Burger Bar which has a Navy Pier location.
A spokesperson said DMK is considering opened more Goldie’s locations, but “nothing’s set in stone.”
