The former Bangers & Lace space in Roscoe Village will get an interesting new spot in less than two weeks — a bar that will focus on taquitos and bubbler cocktails. Kite String Cantina, Footman Hospitality’s reconcept of the space, will open on March 19, founder Jason Freiman says. Bangers & Lace Roscoe Village closed in July 2017 for reconcepting at 1851 W. Addison Street.
The spot, which will be helmed by husband-and-wife team Andrew and Renee Ragin, will include an old-fashioned roller grill to cook taquitos made with house-made tortillas. Flavors include chicken and green mole, and pork and pineapple. A selection of chips and dips, made with house-made corn chips, will also be available with flavors including Guajillo ranch and sikil pak. Renee Ragin, who has experience at Frontera Grill and Local Foods, will run the food program.
The cocktails made in bubbler machines will highlight Footman vet Andrew Ragin’s beverage program. Four fruit-driven flavors will be available, including passion fruit punch and hibiscus negroni. Also expect 20 draft beers from rotating taps, a cheap beer option, as well as 80s music on the sound system. Check out menu details on the website.
Multiple owners and concepts have struggled in the space, including Endgrain and Bangers. Will taquitos and bubble cocktails be the antidote? Find out starting March 19.
