A new era starts on Clark Street beginning today

Big Jones, a venerable member of the Eater Chicago 38, is finally back open after a renovation. After a decade in Andersonville, chef Paul Fehribach figured it was time to pull the trigger on renovations including a kitchen overhaul. Restaurant staples, like fried chicken and dumplings, remain on the menu at 5347 N. Clark Street. But the new equipment allows staff to explore new endeavors including a tasting menu served at the chef’s counter.

While the main kitchen and basement prep kitchen received the most work, diners will notice new chairs and tables. There are new high-tops near the bar. The walls have been painted and ceiling light fixtures have been swapped out. There are four seats at the new chef’s counter but it looks there could be room for another. The kitchen’s been opened up entirely.

Take a tour of the space below. Big Jones is back open in Andersonville.

The facade received a small face-lift.
