The South Side has a new home of Korean-style tacos, burritos, nachos, bowls and more. Seoul Taco, the St. Louis import that opened its first Chicago location in River North in June 2016, unveiled its second today in Hyde Park.
The new 57th Street spot gives Hyde Parkers the successful selection of Korean-Mexican mashup food that moved Seoul Taco from food truck to multi-state brand. It’s a fast-casual operation where diners choose between tacos, burritos and more, then customize their order with their meat or tofu choice and possibly add sides. It seats 40 people and targets millennials with decor that’s similar to the other locations, featuring street art, multi-colored boom boxes, and reclaimed wood tables. It also serves beer and other booze options in addition to non-alcoholic drinks.
Owner David Choi and team, who also plan to open a suburban Naperville spot this winter, are trying to be successful in a space where Edwardo’s Natural Pizza, Packed and Cemitas Puebla shuttered. Hyde Parkers can visit it starting today.
Seoul Taco Hyde Park, 1321 E. 57th Street, hours not posted yet.
