Sabatino’s in Old Irving Park is officially closed for good
The farewell tour is officially over for Sabatino’s. The legendary Northwest Side Italian classic served its last meals on December 23 after announcing it would close back in August. Reservations have been steadily booked since the shutter announcement — the restaurant’s online reservation service even crashed at one point — and the last service was packed with tearful patrons, according to multiple reports. Owners Angelo and Enzo Pagni have been running Sabatino’s since 1977, and they thanked customers one last time via a message on the marquis outside. It was perhaps best known for its shrimp dejonghe.
Aba installs trendy outdoor domes on its terrace
The hottest trend in Chicago’s al fresco scene is now at perhaps Fulton Market’s hottest restaurant and bar. Aba management recently installed igloos on its terrace, which should keep the elevated outdoor space packed with diners and drinkers until deep into winter. There are four available — two six-seaters and two eight-seaters — in two seatings nightly. A rep advises customers to dress warmly, as the igloos are semi-heated and blankets are provided.
