Last year, doughnut mini-chain Glazed and Infused closed all of its stores, but it appears Scott Harris and company hung on to the Fulton Market address at 813 W. Fulton Market. News is now surfacing that Harris — known for his Francesca’s group of restaurants and former involvement with the Purple Pig off Michigan Avenue — is planning to open a wine bar. There’s a liquor license application for Joe’s Imports for that address under Harris’ name.
Francesca’s has also posted a host of job openings for the new bar. A social media post from Francesca’s managing director Edwin Arreola hints at a February opening. The street-level space will benefit once crews finish ongoing road work on Fulton Market that has hampered pedestrian traffic through the area.
The job ads don’t reveal much: “At Francesca’s Restaurant Group we are hiring for our newest restaurant, Joe’s Imports, a wine bar in the Fulton Market District.” A message to Harris wasn’t immediately returned. Harris also runs Fat Rosie’s, a Mexican restaurant in suburban Frankfort. He recently opened another location in Naperville.
Hopefully no one will confuse the new bar with Joe’s on Weed, the shuttered Joe’s Wine Bar, Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab, or Chicago Joe’s. Stay tuned for more details when available.
