Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

It’s still only fall, as winter officially arrives next week, but Chicagoans are always thinking about patio season. The patio won’t debut until the spring, but Parson’s Chicken & Fish will open its Lincoln Park location on Tuesday night at 2435-39 N. Halsted Street. The new restaurant is a converted auto parts store and will serve the same fried chicken and slushies that the popular Logan Square location has offered since it debuted in 2013.

The location features 110 seats at tables and 30 at the bar. They’ve converted the former store’s parking lot into patio space. There’s bleachers and a ping pong table.

Parson’s owners, Land & Sea Dept., run Longman & Eagle, Lost Lake, and Lonesome Rose in Logan Square. Those neighborhoods are considered hip, with many residents in those areas thumbing their noses at Lincoln Park. Either Lincoln Park is about to become cooler, or Chicagoans can no longer tell the differences between these North Side communities.

Parson’s is also known for its negroni slushies which go down great on a summer day. Ownership tries to make the best out of its outdoor space during the winter in Logan Square. They’ve opened an ice skating rink on the space. It’s unclear if there are winter plans for the space in Lincoln Park. They’re selling Christmas trees this year at the Logan Square space.

DePaul students should help make this spot a hit. Check out the hype when Parson’s opens at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Lincoln Park.
