Salero’s four-year-run on Randolph Restaurant Row will end on New Year’s Eve. The West Loop Spanish restaurant is closing, according to the Tribune. Its owner failed to reach a lease extension with the landlord at 621 W. Randolph Street, situated on the same block as Chicago stalwarts Avec and Blackbird.

Chef Ashlee Aubin told the Trib that he has no plans lined up after the restaurant closes. Salero’s ownership also runs Wood, the six-year-old restaurant in Boystown. A September fire briefly shut Salero down. Aubin said business had recovered.

Add Salero to the list of restaurants closed due to new development or rising rents in the West Loop. Other recent casualties include Perez, Jaipur, and Pork Chop. There’s no word if there are any plans for the space, as it doesn’t appear there are any active real estate listings public. Stay tuned for any updates.
