Stephanie Izard’s next project will be a rooftop restaurant serving Peruvian food in Fulton Market. The Iron Chef and goat queen (Girl & the Goat, Little Goat, Duck Duck Goat) is planning to open Cabra, which fittingly means “goat” in Spanish, this coming spring on the roof of the forthcoming the Hoxton hotel at 200 N. Green Street. Like the Top Chef champion’s three previous Chicago restaurants — in addition to a coming-soon Girl & the Goat in LA — this restaurant is a partnership with the empire-building Boka Restaurant Group.
Besides the cuisine, location, and timeframe, details on Cabra are few at this time. Izard is excited to dig into the Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian flavors that encompass Peruvian food and will travel to Peru in January for research and development, according to a preliminary news release.
Boka is working on opening multiple F&B outlets in the Chicago location of the British-based hotel brand. In addition to Cabra, the Hoxton Chicago will feature a Boka restaurant and bar, as well as a pool, partner Rob Katz said in June 2017. The restaurant will be an all-day spot and the bar will be a “dimly lit” subterranean piano bar that’s “the ultimate spot for cocktails,” according to the Hoxton’s website. The hotel will also include a continuously-open coffee and cocktail bar in the lobby. Word of the rooftop space first started to leak out in April 2016.
The hotel is steps away from other Boka and Izard outlets, meaning the team can easily bounce between them and further their foothold in Chicago’s hottest hospitality and development district. It also joins an array of newish hotel hotspots in the area, including the Ace Hotel, Soho House, the long-delayed Nobu Chicago, and more. Stay tuned for many more details on Cabra and the Hoxton when they become available soon.
