— Fans of the popular Christmas movie Elf can now eat — or at least Instagram — a version of the dessert spaghetti from the film at a Chicago restaurant. Chef Moosah Reaume’s take on the dish, which the Will Ferrell-played character Buddy the Elf eats in the movie, is available now through December 25 for $15 at Miss Ricky’s at the Virgin Hotels Chicago in the Loop. It tops spaghetti with strawberry and raspberry sauce, marshmallows, S’mores Pop-Tarts, M&Ms, Oreos, Fruity Pebbles, coconut, syrup, and chocolate sauce.
— Sarah Rinkavage, a James Beard Award nominee for Rising Star Chef of the Year, will exit her post of chef de cuisine at Marisol sometime in mid-December, according to a news release and the Tribune. Rinkavage says in the release, which also teases “an ‘exciting’ announcement about Sarah’s replacement at Marisol will be released soon,” that she is “looking forward to creative new projects after I take some time to travel.”
— Evanston’s Colectivo Coffee will open in a week — on Friday, October 16 — reps say. It’s a 2,600-square-foot space at 716 Church Street that was originally a soda fountain in the ’60s and most-recently a Radio Shack.
— The fancy McDonald’s Headquarters restaurant in the West Loop has released a new international menu with the McAloo Tikka from India and the Chicken McMuffin with Egg from Hong Kong, among other items from other countries that are only available in the United States at this location.
— And finally, an unnamed Chicago brewery put up a truly unique hiring ad this week — in which it “Needs the Sultry Saxophone Magic.” The “Ultimate Sax Warrior,” who would play for people in line at an event on November 16, needs to be able to play at least one Iron Maiden song and “Careless Whisper,” among other requirements.
