Late-night N.Y.-style pizza slices have arrived in Humboldt Park now that Dante’s Pizzeria has taken over the former Shelby’s/Haywood Tavern spot. Dante’s Tavern debuted over the weekend at 2759 W. Augusta Boulevard with a full menu until midnight and late-night slices until they sell out. It’s the fourth location for Dante’s, a popular pizzeria with locations in Logan Square, Avondale, and Ravenswood.
We're here for you, Humbolt Park. Full menu until 12, slices till we're out, and we're nowhere near out.

This is Dante’s first location with a full bar. It’s not about fancy drinks, but beers and cocktails that would pair well with food. Dante’s owners are pledging to have a variety of options for vegans. They’ll have slices of the day, but customers can also ask for whatever toppings they want on their slices. They won’t sell full pies. They don’t want to compete with the Logan Square location which delivers to the area. While customers can certainly order their slices to go, this location is intended for customers to hang out, enjoy a slice and down a couple of brews.
Hopefully Dante’s will provide the space with some stability — The Shelby was only open for seven months. Now the neighborhood has a new late-night option in its place.
Dante’s Tavern, 2759 W. Augusta Boulevard, open 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on weekdays; 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Saturday; 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Kitchen open until midnight, slices available until they run out.
