Another Longtime Chicagoland Jewish Deli is Closing

— The number of Jewish delis in Chicagoland is dwindling more as the owners of The Bagel announced on Friday that they’re closing their location in Old Orchard Mall in Skokie on November 29. The near suburban deli and restaurant has been open for 31 years. The Bagel location in Lakeview will remain open. Patch first caught wind of the Facebook announcement.

— As part of its second annual Summit in Chicago, Barack and Michelle’s Obama Foundation hosted a dine-around of South Side restaurants last night. Groups of 100-150 attendees dined at five different restaurants — Pearl’s Place, Parkway Ballroom, Garifuna Flava, Kimski, and MingHin Chinatown — where Chicago community leaders and Obama Foundation staff members held discussions, according to a news release. The summit wraps up today.

— City officials on Thursday heard final arguments in the Bottled Blonde appeal case. The River North establishment (is it a bar, restaurant, or club?) is challenging the city’s November 2017 decision to strip its business license. A ruling could come as early as this week.
