Two 51-Year-Old Loop Classics Are Closing to Move

— Loop restaurant and bar relics Beef and Brandy and the Bar Below are leaving their longtime homes on State Street. The daytime restaurant on the ground floor has closed already and the subterranean bar will shutter in around two weeks, Block Club reports, bringing more change to the eating scene downtown. The spots, which have been open for 51 years at 127 S. State Street, hope to relocate but there’s no word yet to where.

— After its Fleetwood Mac pop-up ends late this week, West Town’s The Rookery will host a pop-up based on the cult movie classic The Big Lebowski. Details on “The Dude’s Abode,” which will run from November 29 until January 1, are few for now, but expect themed cocktails including three White Russians and more.

— Andersonville bakery hotspot Lost Larson could start serving booze soon. Owner/chef Bobby Schaffer — the former pastry chef at three-Michelin-starred Grace — applied for a liquor license but declined to discuss his possible plans it. The bakery currently serves an array of chef-driven sweet and savory baked goods, pastries, breads, sandwiches, and non-alcoholic drinks from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. five days a week, so it would be interesting to see what Schaffer and team could do with the addition of alcohol.

— A south suburban bar was the site of a shooting early Sunday morning that left a security worker dead. Four other people were injured in the incident at Manny’s Luxury Lounge in Robbins, CBS2 reports.
