About three years after expanding to Andersonville, reps for Pastoral gourmet market have announced plans to shutter the wine and cheese retail space, along with its full-service restaurant Appellation, effective October 21, reports The Tribune. Co-owner Greg O’Neill admits that operating three unique concepts in one building—a wine bar, a shop, plus a restaurant—”wasn’t workable,” and instead the company will focus efforts on their three additional locations. He affirms that all other outlets will remain open, with some potential “re-concepting” for the Loop and West Loop shops via new wine by the glass options.
Pastoral’s foray into Andersonville back in 2015 marked the artisan food shop’s most ambitious and largest space, and it housed the group’s second restaurant. Which means that those bemoaning the Andersonville loss can still trek to Bar Pastoral in Lakeview to partake in the wine and cheese action.
