— Local Italian chain Rosebud Restaurants settled yet another lawsuit brought against it, Cook County Record reports. Two women — who worked for the chain’s now-shuttered River North restaurant Centro — accused the group of sexual harassment in 2015 and the case landed in federal court in 2017. Rosebud settled the case last week and agreed to pay them $160,000, according to the an EEOC news release. An employee accused a Centro coworker of unwanted touching between her legs and said she objected when colleagues used racial slurs to describe African Americans during staff meetings. Rosebud has been the target of multiple lawsuits over the last few years which alleged racism, sexism, harassment, race discrimination, and age discrimination.

— One of Texas’ top barbecue spots is popping up in Chicago this weekend. Terry Black’s BBQ, an Austin favorite that’s even beloved by Michelle Obama, will serve “Texas-sized beef ribs,” brisket, and more at Sapori Trattoria at 2701 N. Halsted Street in Lincoln Park on Saturday, October 20 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. or until they sell out.

The Aviary Cocktail Book, which Nick Kokonas hopes will be even more successful than the iconic Alinea book, is available for pre-order and should ship within a couple weeks. The Tribune digs deep into how the book was put together and what readers can expect here.

— City Hall is dubbing Thursday, October 18 as “Al’s Beef Day,” the Sun-Times reports. The venerable Italian beef chain celebrates its 80th birthday that day and will offer sandwiches for 80 cents.

The Churro Waffle, a popular new Irving Park spot that serves, yes, churros and waffles, was hit by an overnight fire and is closed indefinitely. Management posted on Facebook that “it may take a little time but we will reopen ASAP.” It opened in June at 2845 W. Irving Park Road.

— And finally, nominations are now open until October 21 for the 2019 Jean Banchet Awards. Nominees for Chicago’s top restaurant and chef awards will be announced on November 7 and winners announced at the annual gala on January 13.
