Bibliophile, an ambitious multi-faceted restaurant and bar that will serve booze-infused desserts and sell books, has an opening date in Hyde Park. The project, from the owners of Fabiana’s Bakery, should open on October 19, according to a spokesperson. If they’re successful in Hyde Park at 1658 E. 53rd Street, ownership wants to open other locations in America and Canada.

The concept appears to be a good combination in Hyde Park, home to some of the city’s better bookstores and the University of Chicago. Fabiana Carter has served Brazilian baked goods and other sweets in Hyde Park since 2015. Bibliophile represents an expansion of Carter’s success. Husband Michael Scott Carter and friend Brennan Nichols aim to create something sweet for grown-ups with cocktails and interesting bar food. Chef Anicia Peden is handling the gastropub menu. Back in August, Michael Scott Carter said he envisioned a menu that would make Hyde Parkers excited. He hoped Bibliophile would be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

There’s no mention yet on what books they’ll be peddling, but look for more details later this week.
