Take a tour of this D.C. import in the Loop

Taylor Gourmet is known for its hoagies.

Taylor Gourmet, a hoagie shop that started about 10 years ago in Washington, D.C., opens its first Chicago location today in the Loop. Philadelphia-style cheesesteaks are on the menu, as the chain was started from two Philly transplants. The chain operates 14 locations in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area.

Over on the East Coast, Taylor Gourmet sports a seasonal menu. It also serves salads, soups, and more. Chicago gave D.C. Potbelly, and now the sandwich exchange is complete.

Last year, co-founder Casey Patten dealt with a social media uproar after he participated in a small business roundtable with President Trump. However, apparently these sandwiches have bipartisan appeal. Back in 2013, President Obama visited one of Taylor Gourmet’s locations.

Take a look at the photos below. Taylor Gourmet’s first Chicago location opens at 10:30 a.m., and they’re giving away free sandwiches today and also donating money this week to After School Matters.

Taylor Gourmet, 1 N. Dearborn Street, open 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays; 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday; closed on Sunday.

This is Taylor Gourmet’s first Midwestern location.
