Former 42 Grams chef Jake Bickelhaupt is launching a “wandering supper club” pop-up starting this month. Bickelhaupt didn’t reveal too much information about the new venture, called Konro, but the pop-up’s website read that the Michelin-starred chef will serve food from various spaces and serving a multi-course tasting menu.

42 Grams abruptly closed in June in Uptown after more than three years. Back in June, Bickelhaupt vowed he would cook again, and his next project is now clear. The first dinner will take place on Sept. 23 with two seatings. The website did reveal the location of the $270 dinners. Just like at 42 Grams, the pop-ups will be BYO. Read the Konro’s description left on its website.
“Konro (a Japanese grill that all chefs have or want because they're badass) is a supper club wandering thru Chicago cooking in various spaces and restaurants. A two Michelin star chef will be cooking and serving you a multi course tasting menu. We believe Chicago is the best foodie city in America and perhaps the world. Come join the experience and conversation. Cheers!”
Check back for more information later. Last week, a trailer for a documentary on Bickelhaupt’s former restaurant was released.
UPDATE: Bickelhaupt said he has a location for the pop-up, but it’s only revealed to those who purchase a ticket.
