Men needing a make over can now visit Fulton Market and get a haircut or shave in an area where trendy restaurants and bars have already made over a neighborhood once ruled by meat butchers. Grooming services are just one aspect of Blind Barber, which opens its Chicago location today at 948 W. Fulton Market. It’s a hybrid barber/cocktail lounge which debuted in 2010 in New York. They also opened in LA in 2012.
Blind Barber fashions itself as a “men’s lifestyle brand” and they sell haircare products, as well. Customers can grab a haircut and shave while holding a cocktail in their hand by day. The action shifts to the backroom for men and women into more of a retro rec room vibe in the evenings.
Like the New York and LA locations, Blind Barber offers six signature cocktails. The “Batman” features gin, St. Germain, lemon juice, Peychaud’s Bitter, and mint. One drink that seems unique to Chicago is the Cold Brew Negroni made with Genever, Caffe Amaro, Punt E Mes, and orange bitters. There’s a mixture of local beers, plus selections from around the country in draft, bottles, and cans. There’s also a smattering of wines by the glass, can, and box.
While the New York location features pizza, and Chicago shop takes its cues from the LA outlet with a variety of grilled cheese options. There’s 12 in all with flavors like pepperjack, smoked gouda, habanero, Thai chiles, and jalapeño.
Read the menus below. Chop off that man bun and see if Blind Barber is buzz worthy starting today.
