Back in February, news broke that the Scofflaw Group had something up their sleeves at 3204 W. Armitage Ave. in Logan Square, as the team had filed for an outdoor liquor license. Today, the group shared details about the project — called The Moonlighter — a neighborhood bar with a casual vibe that will feature craft beer and serve cocktails and food. A dog-friendly 100-seat patio will stay open during winter months thanks to built-in outdoor fireplaces that will keep drinkers warm, according to Chicago.

The bar should open this fall on a very busy block for the company. Scofflaw’s namesake bar stands at 3201 W. Armitage Ave. Sink|Swim, their shuttered seafood restaurant — it’s being used for the moment for the Good Fortune pop-up — is at 3212 W. Armitage Ave. The Moonlighter includes 2,000 square feet of outdoor space.

Chef Mickey Neely is preparing a menu that includes wings, burgers, and nachos — they’re aiming for a “come as your are” backyard barbecue feel. Neely worked as the Scofflaw’s opening chef in 2012 and now finds himself back with the group serving food across the street. Scofflaw also runs Slippery Slope/Heavy Feather in Logan Square.

Sours are trendy right now, and a news release stated that the beer list will, at least initially, lean toward them. The bar is hiring right now. Check back for more information as the bar grows closer to opening.
