A steakhouse is going into the Hotel Julian, the new hotel opening next year across from Millennium Park. Perhaps the restaurant’s atmosphere will be laid back like its punning name, About Last Knife. The owners, the same team behind the LondonHouse hotel, describe the restaurant as featuring “unique chef-driven food.” They’ll also be a bar component and outdoor seating.
Curbed Chicago has more details on the hotel, which should open in late 2018 in the former Atlantic Bank Building at 168 N. Michigan Ave. The restaurant will be located on the ground floor inside the 218-room hotel. Oxford Capital Group and Quadrum Global are spending more than $75 million on renovations to the 101-year-old building. An Oxford Capital spokeswoman confirmed the restaurant would be a steakhouse, but couldn’t share any further details at this preliminary stage.
Steakhouses aren’t exactly an endangered species in this part of Chicago, but it’s been a busy time for Oxford Capital in Chicago. Last week, they announced Ocean Prime, an upscale steak and seafood chain, would be opening a Chicago location inside their LondonHouse hotel, a few blocks north of Millennium Park at Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue. The company should also soon share details on another restaurant in LondonHouse. They also own The Hotel Felix, which recently announced a new sushi restaurant for its River North location.
