WEST LOOP— Bin 36, after an extensive search, has a new chef at the West Loop wine bar. They are bringing over former Top Chef contestant Angelina Bastidas. The Chicago native was in charge of the kitchens at AMK Restaurant Group (AMK Restaurant Bar in Bucktown, Nosh & Booze in West Loop). Her first day was on Monday after she left AMK last month.
WRIGLEYVILLE— Rockit Burger Bar in Wrigleyville has some news coinciding with the start of the Cubs season. The spin off of the River North bar/restaurant has hired Brett Neubauer as its new executive chef. His resume includes time at Howells & Hood off Michigan Avenue, Bin 36, and Spring--the shuttered restaurant in Bucktown that now houses Trench. He has been on the job for a few weeks.
THE LOOP—Longtime downtown favorite Atwood also has a new chef, according to social media. The restaurant’s first Facebook post since October announces David Fingerman, who was a Jean Banchet Award nominee for best chef de cuisine while he was at Graham Elliot Bistro, as the new head of its kitchen. The post also proclaims “We are baaaack!” and promotes Fingerman’s New York strip steak with white bean salad as part of a new dinner menu.
LAKEVIEW— Grassroots neighborhood eatery has also hired a new chef in Lakeview. Tony Albanese comes over from Tesori where he was a sous chef.
