Rogers Park is getting the kind of gelato certain Gold Coast residents clamor about. Black Dog Gelato, known for its eclectic chef-driven flavors, is opening a kiosk this summer near the CTA Loyola L stop, along Sheridan Road, reported DNAinfo. Unlike the deal with the Chicago Park District’s now-shuttered and infamous kiosk in Mariano Park in Gold Coast, this kiosk isn’t linked to Bow Truss Coffee Roasters.

Black Dog founder Jessica Oloroso has enjoyed success partnering with Mariano’s and serving grocery store patrons gelato at selection locations. Black Dog counts three locations: The original in Ukrainian Village, plus stalls at Chicago’s French Market in the West Loop and Revival Food Hall in The Loop. Oloroso will add some chairs and tables to the new location, where Loyola holds outdoor summer events. She also told DNAinfo that she’s scouting for a more permanent location where she could offer customers more items. The Loyola kiosk will likely only offer a portion of what Black Dog serves at their more-established locations.
