The bell sounded on Sunday in Sauganash, as Alarmist Brewing opened its taproom over the weekend. Alarmist’s beer hall is the Northwest Side neighborhood’s only bar, giving nearby residents a place to enjoy fresh-brewed beer. The locals are excited, especially nearby pizzerias which could expect an uptick in business due to beer lovers who need food which isn’t served at the brewery.
For instance, family-owned Marie’s Pizza sent over a special pie to Alarmist on Sunday.
Marie's Pizza on Lawrence dropped this off for us!

Alarmist will start out with eight taps, and they’ve joined the glut of breweries inspired by President Trump. Drinkers can find Alternative Facts Belgian Ale on tap. Brewery founder Gary Gulley wants his tasting room to represent a community gathering spot, and encourages conversation. That’s why there are no TVs. Gulley promises during special events they’ll haul one in, but giant flatscreens aren’t the focus of the space. Instead they’ll concentrate on making great beer. Check out Alarmist’s new taproom, now serving in Sauganash.
Alarmist Brewing’s Taproom, 4055 W. Peterson Ave., (773) 681-0877, open 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; noon to midnight on Friday and Saturday; noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
