Grange Hall Burger Bar’s mysterious second-floor bar and restaurant is now open off Randolph Street in the Wild West Loop. Backdoor Saloon is only open three days a week, Thursday through Saturday, offering a late-night menu of snacks and heartier fare including a 36-ounce Tomahawk beef ribeye. Grange Hall hasn’t exactly been sharing tons of info about Backdoor, which gives the space a speakeasy-like aura—they’re even requiring guests to use the alley entrance after 11 p.m.
There’s a selection of eight house cocktails, 12 tap lines and they even serve Right Bee Cider (Chicago’s first cidery located in Hermosa Park) on draft. There’s plenty of whisky and wines by the glass and bottle, too.
The feel is an amped-up version of a Western saloon, but they’re playing with that concept. For example, no Old West saloon featured a green neon revolver sign. The tin ceiling goes with the theme, as does the tall stools and other decorations. Backdoor Saloon may be the place for enthusiastic Westworld cosplayers.
